For the Love of Dior

“A woman’s perfume tells more about her than her handwriting.” – Christian Dior

Christian Dior

By far, one of the most influential men in fashion, especially French fashion, is Christian Dior. He also happens to be my favorite designer in all of fashion; unfortunately, I do not make enough money to be able to afford anything with the name Dior.Christian Dior was born in France. You can thank him for the A-Line dress which he showed in 1956, and also invented the little black dress! He was the first to create both of these looks (plus more!)

1950’s Avant Garde Dior

Christian Dior is known for reinventing women’s fashion. But what most people did not know, was that he served in the war with Germany. Upon France’s surrender to the Germans, he retuned to Paris to work for Lucien Lelong (another designer) and throughout the remaining years of the war, Lelong’s design house would consistently dress the women of both Nazis and French collaborators.

In 1957, Christian Dior died, but one of the longest running mysteries of his life was how he died. Some people say it was because he choked on a turkey bone, some have said a stroke, and one of his close friends stated that he passed away from a heart attack after a strenuous sexual encounter; however, the real reason for his death and how it happened has never been released.

“My dream is to save women from nature.” – Christian Dior

1940’s Dior

Although Christian Dior has since passed, his company still prevails as one of the most influential and avant garde bands in fashion.
