Have you thought about your New Years resolutions yet? Me neither.
I was never good at remembering my New Years resolutions, and a lot of my friends usually “give up” something. I like to think of New Years by its definition…a new year. Why not try a new you?
I am not talking about changing your personality or your entire being. (Although, if you have a bad personality maybe it would be in your best interest to fix it?, but what do I know, I am a fashion blogger…)
I am talking about things that might make you feel better about yourself as your New Years resolution. Here are a few examples of what I am talking about:
1. Manicure/Pedicure: Getting your nails done or your toes done, is a great feeling! You leave the salon feeling so much more refreshed. (You can call me crazy if you want, if you have never had either, then you don’t understand, but for those of you who get your nails and toes done, you understand me) Why not splurge a little on yourself every month? I can guarantee that you all think that you do not do enough for yourself. You do not have to do both, pick one or the other, or switch off every month. Incorporate one of your girlfriends so you can both get out of the house and catch up while making yourself feel better.
2. Shoes: I personally am biased because of my love of shoes, however, I firmly believe that you cannot have enough shoes, ever. I do not care if you do not wear heels. If sneakers are your thing, or flip flops, I think that if you find a pair of shoes that you cannot live without and your wardrobe is completely naked because you do not have this pair of shoes, make it your resolution to buy them and get rid of one that you do not wear as much…this will help you feel better about your purchase, and it will ease your way into clearing out your closet for next season.
3. Purses: I am not the biggest activist for purses. I am more focused on my shoes; but that does not mean I do not like a good quality bag. My current winter bag is a Michael Kors limited edition bag, so I understand the love of purses. Women, as a cardinal rule, you should have a bag for every season; something that reflects the colors, and the versatility of the season. For example: I usually go for a bigger bag for summer so I can hold bottles of water for when I am on the run. It does not hurt to keep a pair of underwear in one of the more discrete pockets. Either way, make it a resolution to have a bag for each season this year and get rid of the ones you no longer need or are from seasons before you can remember.
4. Makeup: If you are anything like me, you wear makeup everyday to work and you feel like you are on display without it. I understand where you are coming from. However, makeup can actually be harmful to you, so make it a resolution to go one day during the work week, where you only allow yourself 3 make up products. (Because we all know we cannot just stop cold turkey.) These three products do not include skin care. (ex. moisturizer…your face needs moisture.) On the flip side, if you are a woman who does not wear make up, try to make a resolution to go one day a week with a clean professional look. You do not need to be made up into a show girl like some of us…(ahem…me…) Women should always know how to properly do their makeup, even if you do not use it daily. So go out, buy some makeup, and have fun!
All of these suggestions are to hopefully, help you feel a little bit better about yourself, give you a little more confidence, especially if you feel like you are on display without makeup, or even with makeup. If there is one thing I can say with any certainty, men are more attracted to your confidence, than what dress or shoes you have on.
Hope everyone has a great New Years!
