Lately I have been asked by a few of my readers how to go about waist training.
For those who do not know what this is, it is a barbaric ritual where women wear a corset (or now currently, a waist trainer) so tightly that it trains their waist to have an hourglass figure.
This practice dates back to the 16th century where women wore them to reduce hip and waist size.
I thought about it and I know that many celebrities are now doing it, so this means that many everyday people want to do the same; so for the sake of my readers, I looked into waist trainers.
I found one that was not going to break my budget but was a good quality where maybe I would see results.
It arrived in the mail today and I decided to give it a whirl. I will be writing about my seven-day waist training experience.
This is reminding me of Pirates of the Caribbean, where Elizabeth Swan gets a new dress from her father and he states that “it is fashionable in London” and Elizabeth tells her father that “women in London must have learned not to breathe.”
I presume it is not as bad as one of the old corsets from the 16th century where they warped women’s rib cages, I am not THAT insane, however I am very uncomfortable, mostly because I am sitting and the steel is poking into my back.
Wearing this brings to question 1 thing: have I EVER had good posture!? Wow! This makes you sit up straight even if you don’t want to!
I have been wearing this cage for about 2 hours now, and I have yet to find a standing, sitting, or laying position in which I am relatively comfortable. Maybe it is one of those things where you will become accustomed to it? Maybe I am too fat for this? Maybe in a few days I will be able to tell you for sure, but for tonight, this is not fun. At all.
